Surface Techniques with Seth Apter

I am working through Seth Apter's DVD titled, "Easy Mixed Media Surface Techniques." This is the section of applying texture to the painted grid process. One of his favorite ways to add texture is with gesso and textured wallpaper. I didn't have the wallpaper yet so I used some other options as you can see in the photos.

Yeah, you probably remember that January when I took down the kitchen curtain to use it as a stencil. This is it. ha ha

I so love texture. I once used a piece of lace and spray paint to create a lampshade design - but never thought to carry that over to an actual art piece! This is tremendous! Loving these ideas. Have you tried bubble wrap, yet? You can paint on it and smash it down like a print as well - makes an awesome texturey print. I'm living for these posts. Can't wait to see what's next!

Micael...hello! So happy to see you here. Just tried bubble wrap today. Definately fun. What's fun about this project is that I can't wait to see how it comes out next too. Oh yes, I agree you should carry over texture stuff to your art. Thanks for visiting.

Hey there Seth...hope I'm getting an A in your class. ha ha You have me thinking about this constantly so I'm thrilled when I get to work on it in my studio. As I said I've changed rooms so some of my supplies are "hidden" but I've had fun improvising...which proves your DVD is a success!
