Buried Treasure with Seth Apter

16x20 Oil on Canvas
The "Buried Treasure" event with Seth Apter has started today, June 12th. This is a yearly event where he invites artists to select one or two of their favorite posts to share with others. Seth provides the links to these posts on his blog at      http://www.thealteredpage.blogspot.com

I chose this post to celebrate how grateful I am that I passed a fear to work in oils.

Worked out the final details on this oil painting. Although I will let it sit for a few days and ponder about whether I'm finished or not. Sometimes I have to step away from it for a bit in order to know.

Cheers-
Darlene

Hi Darlene-This painting is wonderful-the shadow on the right side of the face is so well done. I visit your blog often through bloglovin, but am unable to leave a coment.m Anyway I always love your art and am following you but in order to leave a comment I have to go to your blog independently to do so. Anyway-wonderful portrait.

Hi Janet,
Much appreciation for you stopping by. I'll have to check out why a comment can't be left at the other site. Sorry. So cool and good of you to chase me down to comment.
And I am very pleased that you commented on the shadow on the right side because that is most of what I was working on for 2 days. Note that my photo washed out the right side of the background. It doesn't look that light. Looks more like the left side. Cheers-

Sometimes I step back from a sketch to decide if I should add color to it or not. Also, sometimes I'll finish a sketch & not be satisfied with it but then when I look at it the next day I suddenly like it more. :) Great painting!

This is such a beautiful blog. The work is wonderful. I'm inspired to make time to do more of my own artwork. I'm looking forward to receiving your posts Darlene. I find your work heart warming. Love it!

Greetings Campbell, your blogs are wonderful. Especially when you pick out
precise points from art work and express them in your ways of writing..

Jamie, Thank you for finding me from SS. Hasn't that creative adventure been fun? I checked out your blog and enjoyed my visit but couldn't find a place to add comments. Also had trouble trying to sign up to follow your blog but I'll try again another day. See you in semester 2 of SS?

Looking good. I usually have to take a couple of days off from a piece too - although holding it up to a mirror can work in a pinch if I am on a deadline
