I'm experiencing week two of Sketchbook Skool with instructor Lapin Barcelona, the French illustrator. He is staring into Koosje Koene's eyes as he draws her portrait. He says he always draws the eyes first and must get the eyes right as they are the key to the story he is drawing. He is famous for drawing "big head" portraits. He uses old ledgers to draw in and when he is finished he asks the model to sign their portrait using a BIC 4 color pen. His drawings of vehicles are also fantastic.
Koosje and Danny Gregory founded Sketchbook Skool. We're in the second year and I can't imagine missing a session. There are three sessions a year with each session running for six weeks. A different instructor is introduced each week. Sketchbook Skool is "Art 4 All." Perhaps you'd like to join us. www.sketchbookskool.com

I ccould ramble on and on about experiences at Sketchbook Skool www.sketchbookskool.com (this is my second year), but I'll keep it short and say "WOW!"
I had the joy of studying with Jonathan Twingley. Twingley.blogspot.com What an impression he made on me...and obviously Zebra. I'm fired up to work with inks and collage. Merci Jonathan.

The second year of Sketchbook Skool (SBS) www.sketchbookskool.com started today. The name of this kourse is "Stretching." All of the 2014 kourses are still available for purchase too. The first instructor is Jonathon Twingley. Twingley.blogspot.com I'm a huge fan of his work and I am excited that he is an instructor at SBS. It was amazing listening to his videos (he can talk the talk) and equally exciting to see inside his studio and watch him draw. Have you ever heard of a metal brush? I haven't. Jonathon uses one with india ink.
This is a bit of a drawing focusing on imaginative qualities found from ink blots. The colors are the ink blots then I had to draw "what I saw." I think I passed the test. Maybe Jonathan will stop by and put a shiny red star on my paper. Ah, I may have to go out tomorrow and buy some of those gummed stars.
And here's another one. Who would've know that I'd see Zebra in an ink blot.

Happy Easter friends. Hope your day is filled with chocolate bunnies and Easter egg hunts. Oh yes, and coconut cake, breads, cinnamon rolls, cookies with pink icing, cupcakes...and I hope someone remembered the other basic food groups that constitute "Easter Dinner" as Zebra forgot.

I recently saw an optometrist because I stopped wearing contact lenses and was wearing a pair of glasses I think I got in the fifth grade. I told her I didn't care if she had to prescribe binoculars for me to see with as long as I had good eye health. Perfect eye health...sigh of relief! I did need glasses with thick lenses...may as well went with the binoculars.
