I'm currently working on a graphic novel and when the ideas seem stuck, or I just need some inspiration to continue (you know that period in the middle of the book where you realize you may not know what you're doing to finish the book?); then I revert back to simpler things such as drawing lines or spreading color with paint.
Doodling and painting papers keeps the hands moving and helps to relax the thinking. Ideas come to me when I let go and do this kind of fluid-non-thinking work.
A Cinderella coloring book and Crayola crayons work too. Be sure to smell the crayons and choose a coloring book you adored as a child. Crayola has a new crayon out called Slic Stix and they spread color so much easier.

I loved playing with paper dolls as a child...Cinderella was my favorite. I also made my own paper dolls. I would fill a shoe box full of female paper dolls. Each one was colored with colored pencil and a I wrote her name on the back of the doll. I would love to see them today. I don't know what happened to them.
This is a selection of paper dolls I am making my grand daughter.
